Scruff-- I have to think that the root system business is a bunch of ancient Chinese hooey. Include it in an article about "qi" if you like, but from a botanical point of view, the size of the root system is a function of the plant's development, not its propagation source. Interestingly enough, there is some evidence in rose horticulture that clonal cultivation leads to progressively less vigorous generations of plants. But that is also not a function of root size. --Salsero
- I agree with you on the root system thing- it is not a matter of propagation source. But, the parent plant has been around for a significantly longer period of time, giving it more time to develop a root system than its clones. If this is incorrect reasoning though, thanks for correcting it. --Scruffmcgruff 16:06, 11 February 2008 (EST)
