Overview
The SÁ family of Japanese gourmet green tea products was launched in 2008 to introduce consumers in the United States to authentic, exceptional-quality Japanese green tea. SÁ Japanese Green Tea is distributed and marketed by Sugimoto USA, Inc. SUGIMOTO USA, INC. is a subsidiary of Japan’s premier tea producer Sugimoto Seicha Co., Ltd. branched in Seattle, Washington. Sugimoto Seicha has established its name from over 60 years in perfecting the art of tea making technique in Shizuoka-prefecture, Japan.
Tea Maestro Sugimoto
Owner of SUGIMOTO USA INC., Hiroyuki Sugimoto, known as Tea Maestro Sugimoto, is a 2nd generation tea industry leader. Hiroyuki took over his father’s company in 1977. Then he created his original tea blend after hundreds of trials, receiving Japan’s highest awards for his blend and the overall superiority of the company’s products. Sugimoto’s passion for developing and marketing the best green teas continue. He educates the company’s green tea farmers about the importance of soil preparation and the environmental impact of fertilization. Additionally, he looks for ways to improve the company’s manufacturing systems and to assure product safety.
Awards
Tea Maestro Hiroyuki Sugimoto received Agricultural Minister Award in 1986 by winning a competition among Japan's best tea experts. In addition, one of his farmers called FUJITO has received many distinguished awards including 1990 Prime Minister Award in Japan.
In 2008, SA's Genmai cha was selected as the best blended/flavored green tea at the World Tea Championship.
