Overview
Bancha is a Japanese green tea, made from the last flush of the harvest season. Bancha is typically seen as a low quality tea, but many still enjoy it. It is easy to brew, and has a consistent hearty flavor that goes well with meals.
Bancha derivatives
Bancha is often used to make other types of Japanese green tea. Houjicha is roasted bancha leaves (and/or stems), and Genmai Cha is bancha with toasted rice kernels added.
