Specialties
Adagio Teas sells a wide variety of teas, but their Flavored Teas, which they flavor in-house, are particularly noteworthy.
Development of the Online Tea Community
Adagio Teas is in large part responsible for the existence of the current American online tea community. Their numerous extra-commercial pursuits, including TeaChat, TeaMuse, TeaChef, TeaMap and TeaCritic, provide an online forum for thousands of tea drinkers-- many of whom would otherwise be unable to come in contact with fellow tea enthusiasts-- to teach, learn, and discuss their experiences with tea.
Packaging
Adagio ships their tea in attractive tins which are labeled with recommended brewing instructions. Seasoned tea drinkers may feel free to tinker with these guidelines, but they are helpful for first time drinkers. The most popular sizes, 3-5oz (varies by the packing of the particular tea), and the mini sampler tin, are pictured above. Larger sizes (8oz and 1lb) are also available.
Both the 4 and 8 oz tins have a clear plastic lid which is held in place by a metal latch. As tea is sensitive to UV light, these lids are specially treated to block UV rays. However, there has been some criticism in certain circles that this lid is not as airtight as some other designs.
